About this role
Biochemist – AI Data Trainer
About the Role
Your deep expertise in biochemistry is exactly what the next generation of AI needs. At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to make advanced language models smarter, more accurate, and more scientifically rigorous — and we need PhD-level biochemists to make it happen.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your knowledge of protein folding, enzyme kinetics, metabolic pathways, and molecular genetics becomes the benchmark that AI must meet. No AI background required — just exceptional scientific expertise and a sharp analytical mind.
What You'll Do
- Design Expert-Level Problems — Craft advanced biochemistry challenges spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI reasoning
- Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical responses that serve as the scientific benchmark AI models are trained against
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical derivations for scientific accuracy, logical consistency, and safety
- Improve AI Reasoning — Identify and document failures in AI thinking — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied enzyme kinetics — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Who You Are
- PhD-level expertise in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field (completed or in final stages)
- Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics
- Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and precisely in written form
- High attention to detail when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, evaluation, or quality assurance workflows
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in scientific writing, peer review, or academic publishing
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs and teams
- Fully remote and flexible — set your own schedule, 10–40 hours/week
- Apply your scientific expertise in a novel, high-impact way
- Gain firsthand exposure to how large language models are built and refined
- Freelance autonomy with the potential for ongoing contract work
A legitimate, well-funded platform (built by Labelbox) with strong rates for experts. The real catch is availability — per-approved-task pay and quiet stretches between projects.
