About the Role

Your environmental engineering expertise can do more than solve today's problems — it can shape how the next generation of AI thinks about them.

We're looking for environmental engineers to join our network of domain experts helping train and evaluate advanced AI models. You'll stress-test AI reasoning on real-world challenges in water treatment, air quality, waste management, and environmental compliance — and provide the expert feedback that makes these models smarter and more reliable.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. Work on your own schedule, as much or as little as fits your life.

What You'll Do

• Design Advanced Problems — Craft technically rigorous environmental engineering challenges spanning contaminant transport, mass balance in treatment plants, hydrology, and Life Cycle Assessments (LCA)
• Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step solutions — including chemical dosage calculations, hydraulic flow models, and pollutant dispersion simulations — that serve as reference benchmarks for AI training
• Audit AI Outputs — Critically evaluate AI-generated remediation plans, environmental impact statements, and regulatory compliance analyses for technical accuracy and correctness
• Sharpen AI Reasoning — Identify where AI logic breaks down — incorrect stoichiometry, overlooked secondary impacts, faulty unit conversions — and provide structured feedback to improve model reasoning

Who You Are

• Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (environmental focus), or a closely related field
• Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air quality engineering, or hazardous waste remediation
• Able to communicate complex technical and ecological concepts clearly in writing
• High attention to detail — precise with unit conversions, chemical equations, and regulatory logic (EPA, ISO 14001, etc.)
• Self-directed and comfortable working independently
• No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

• Experience with data annotation, quality assurance, or evaluation workflows
• Familiarity with environmental modeling software (e.g., WASP, AERMOD, or similar)
• Background in EHS compliance or environmental consulting
