micro1 is selecting Graphic Designer - Editorial, Poster & Marketing Layout specialists to contribute to a client project focused on design analysis and annotation. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required - your domain knowledge is what matters. You'll be immersed in a frontier AI initiative, using your deep knowledge of design composition to annotate, describe, and structure assets across print, digital, and motion media. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are key to providing accurate, industry-standard insights and annotations.


Scope of Work


  1. Annotate editorial, poster, and marketing design assets as well as short video clips, following a defined schema and leveraging precise visual and design vocabulary.
  2. Deconstruct completed designs into compositional layers, populating structured metadata reflecting hierarchy, geometry, style, and typographic systems.
  3. Apply cinematography and composition standards to video clips, using industry language to describe framing, movement, and visual flow.
  4. Create exemplar annotations that serve as quality benchmarks for the project's evolving dataset.
  5. Identify and document ambiguous cases, missing categories, or annotation schema edge cases for ongoing guideline improvement.
  6. Maintain alignment with project leads and quality control throughout updates to annotation frameworks.
  7. Use Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and similar tools to evaluate, process, and structure layered design files as part of the annotation workflow.


Preferred Qualifications


  1. 3–5+ years as a graphic designer, visual/brand designer, layout or print specialist, editorial designer, or art director; contributors with 7+ years or art direction expertise are encouraged for quality leadership tracks.
  2. Portfolio demonstrating advanced use of typography, color, layout, and visual hierarchy, particularly in editorial and marketing contexts.
  3. Expert-level proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects), Canva, or equivalent design platforms.
  4. Ability to articulate and document design concepts with precision, using established design and composition terminology.
  5. Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or equivalent professional portfolio demonstrating relevant expertise.
  6. Strong written English proficiency for meticulous annotation and structured content documentation.
  7. Background in poster, editorial, or marketing layout design, with added value from motion design, video editing, or cinematography experience.
