About this role
Opportunity Overview
Handshake is looking for pharmacists to support AI research through flexible, part-time contract work. This is not a traditional job. You’ll draw on your clinical training and hands-on experience in pharmacy practice, including medication therapy management, drug interactions, dosing, and patient counseling, to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI reason like a practicing pharmacist. The Handshake AI program runs year-round, with project opportunities opening periodically across different areas of expertise.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside your current role.
What You’ll Do
- Use your pharmacy expertise to create expert-level tasks that today’s top AI models can’t solve, based on real clinical workflows such as medication review, drug interaction screening, dose verification, therapeutic selection, and patient counseling
- Review and evaluate AI-generated responses for clinical accuracy, patient safety, and alignment with current pharmacy practice and guidelines
- Provide clear, structured written feedback to help improve AI model performance
- Work remotely and complete tasks at your own pace, with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement
Qualifications
- Degree: Completed PharmD or equivalent doctoral pharmacy degree
- Licensure: Currently licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a pharmacist
- Practice depth: Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
Community or retail pharmacy
- Hospital or inpatient clinical pharmacy
- Ambulatory care or medication therapy management
- Pharmacology, toxicology, or drug information
- Specialty areas such as oncology, infectious disease, critical care, or pediatrics
Additional qualifications (not required, but strengthen your application)
- Experience across multiple practice settings, or with electronic health records, drug interaction databases, and clinical decision support tools
- Board certification (e.g., BCPS, BCOP, BCIDP), residency training, or peer-reviewed publications
Required for all applicants
- Must have US work authorization
- Strong written communication and attention to detail
- Ability to explain complex pharmacy and pharmacology concepts clearly
- Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
Backed by an established career platform, with a huge range of roles and strong rates for advanced degrees. Work depends on active projects, most roles are US-only, and a pending lawsuit questions how workers are classified.
