Physical AI Expert

About the Role: At TELUS Digital, we are teaching robots to move with human-like skill. As a Robot Teleoperator in our AI Community, you are at the forefront of Physical AI. You will control robots remotely and record wearable-sensor demonstrations of everyday tasks, creating the real-world data that teaches robots to fold, sort, pack, and handle objects safely and reliably. At TELUS, you are helping our community give AI a truly human touch.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform teleoperated demonstrations of household and workplace tasks (folding, sorting, packing, tidying, object handling) following detailed collection protocols.
• Complete wearable-capture sessions using smart glasses, hand-tracking sensors, or handheld devices when required.
• Review your own recordings, flag failed or incomplete attempts, and re-record to meet quality standards.
• Report hardware, latency, and synchronization issues so collection setups keep improving.
• Provide feedback on task design and the usability of capture tools.

How to qualify

Mandatory Qualifications:

• Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. An Associate Degree or technical diploma in one of these fields is accepted with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Past Experience: Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in at least one of the following:
• Teleoperating or remotely controlling robots, drones, or robotic arms
• Operating industrial robots, automated machinery, or heavy equipment
• VR, simulation, or motion-controller based control systems
• Robotics data collection, field testing, or lab operations
• Technical Skills: Comfortable working with VR headsets, motion controllers, or similar control interfaces, and following step-by-step technical protocols.
• Equipment & Connectivity: Access to a stable, high-speed internet connection and a computer capable of running teleoperation software.
• English Proficiency: Minimum B1 (Intermediate) level English for technical guidelines.

Preferred (not required): Experience with VR or gaming, drone or RC piloting, machine or equipment operation, or robotics and surgical-robot systems.

Payment:

Current pay rates for qualified experts typically range from $32 – $45.00 USD per hour, depending on project requirements, language specialization, assessment performance, and market location.
