Radiologists
About this role
Opportunity Overview
Handshake is looking for radiologists to support AI research through flexible, part-time contract work. This is not a traditional job. You’ll draw on your clinical training and hands-on experience in diagnostic imaging, including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine, to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI reason like a practicing radiologist. The Handshake AI program runs year-round, with project opportunities opening periodically across different areas of expertise.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside your current role.
What You’ll Do
- Use your radiology expertise to create expert-level tasks that today’s top AI models can’t solve, based on real clinical workflows such as image interpretation, differential diagnosis, protocol selection, and report writing
- Review and evaluate AI-generated responses for clinical accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current radiology practice
- Provide clear, structured written feedback to help improve AI model performance
- Work remotely and complete tasks at your own pace, with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement
Qualifications
- Degree: Completed MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree
- Radiology training: Completed or currently enrolled in a diagnostic radiology residency or fellowship, or board certified or board eligible in radiology
- Subspecialty depth: Working knowledge in one or more areas of radiology, such as:
Neuroradiology, head and neck, or musculoskeletal imaging
- Chest, cardiac, or abdominal imaging
- Breast, pediatric, or emergency radiology
- Interventional radiology or nuclear medicine
- Emergency radiology
Additional qualifications (not required, but strengthen your application)
- Experience across multiple imaging modalities or subspecialties, or with PACS, structured reporting, and clinical decision support tools
- Experience at an academic medical center or teaching hospital, peer-reviewed publications, or involvement in imaging research or AI-assisted radiology tools
Required for all applicants
- Must have US work authorization
- Strong written communication and attention to detail
- Ability to explain complex radiology concepts clearly
- Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
Backed by an established career platform, with a huge range of roles and strong rates for advanced degrees. Work depends on active projects, most roles are US-only, and a pending lawsuit questions how workers are classified.
